26 & 2 is a restorative Hatha yoga class, derived from the Ghosh lineage of yoga from Kolkata, West Bengal India. The class follows a well established sequence of postures designed to stretch and strengthen every ligament, and muscle of the body while improving the joints and creating a strong mind body connection. This class is conducted in a heated room (105 and 40% humidity,) allowing for a deeper stretch while preventing injury. You will leave feeling cleansed, and energized inside out, bones to skin. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels.
This expansive practice combines elements of traditional Hatha, Forrest, Para, Ghosh, and Vinyasa yoga. Fusion teaches you how your favorite postures can flow bringing greater depth and stability by exploring longer sequencing, pranayama and meditation techniques. This Vimana style class has been brought to Jtown by Bel Carpenter and Emily Longfellow, co-founders of Vimana Yoga. This class is practiced in a heated room (105 degrees with 40% humidity) with music. Fusion, will positively challenge the stamina of both your mind and body and bring a great depth to your practice and life. Students are encouraged to take a few 26/2 or Flow classes first or have a basic understanding of yoga.
This uplifting Vinyasa style focuses on linking breath with movement, creating fluid transitions from one posture to the next. This fun class utilizes creative sequencing set to music and will challenge, strengthen and tone your body. Performed in a mildly heated room (Approx 90-95 degrees). This class is appropriate for all fitness levels.
The Kettlebell Kundalini program was created by our very own Rachel Rubin. Kettlebell class utilizes the powerful kettlebell to create a strong mind body connection. Classes are led with a focus on guiding participants through proper form and foundation to feel confident and comfortable while exercising. Yoga and stretching are also incorporated in each class. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels.
Jtown Core & Cardio – This is a high intensity interval training system that utilizes Pilates principles and the Tabata method of circuit training. Classes are in a hot room (95-98 degrees with 40% humidity) with an upbeat music selection. This class is a wonderful addition to your yoga practice that creates long lean muscle mass, burns fat, increases cardio endurance, improves circulation and builds core strength to support all modalities of practice and life. It is performed on a yoga mat making it low impact, protecting your joints and muscles from the pounding of other exercises like running and jumping. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels.
Yin is a gently paced class where passive poses are held for 3-5 minutes in order to access the connective tissues of the body, tendons, facia, and ligaments at a deeper level. Yin not only improves flexibility but the flow of prana (energy) throughout the body. Yin is practiced in a warm room (85 – 90 degrees) this transformative and meditative practice focuses on anatomical uniqueness, joint and organ health. This practice will challenge your mind, enhance the fluidity of your body and leave you with a deep sense of peace. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels.
This class is a strength training class that utilizes yogic principles, such as mind-body awareness, pranayama, through primary Vinyasa flow sequencing with strong attention to proper alignment and focused movements, utilizing free weights and strengthening your core. This class gets your heart rate up, yet with low impact. It’s a perfect mix of yoga, weights and cardio. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels.
